Media Gallery

The Media Gallery is the central hub for managing videos, lectures, images, and files within CourseLayer. This repository allows admins to upload, rename, and delete media assets used throughout the platform.


Uploading & Managing Files

  • Upload Limit – Only one file can be uploaded at a time. (Bulk uploads will be added in the future.)
  • File Size Limit – No strict size limit, but uploading large files may impact performance when used in the frontend.
  • Flat List Structure – Files are displayed in a single list (folders or organization features are not yet available).
  • File Types Supported – Videos, images, lectures, and other files can be stored in the gallery.

Differences Between Media Types

Videos vs. Lectures

  • Videos – Static video files uploaded for use in feature videos, promotional content, or course thumbnails.
  • Lectures – Streamed video content that adapts to the user's network speed for optimized playback.
Videos are not encoded for streaming—they remain as raw file uploads, so admins should ensure they use appropriately sized video files.

File Actions

  • Renaming a file – Updates everywhere the file is used within the platform.
  • Deleting a file – If a file is deleted and was used in a course, it will be **replaced by a
